Mamfe Presbytery Sunday School Children Urged to Obey Parents

Mamfe Presbytery Sunday School Children Urged to Obey Parents. Mamfe, Cameroon – The annual Sunday School rally for the Mamfe Presbytery, held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the PCC Besongabang Church premises, focused on the theme “God Protects His People” (Exodus 2:1-10b). The event brought together six Sunday School groups from across the Presbytery: Mamfe Town, Banya, Egbekaw, Okoyong, Nchang, and Besongabang, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for the children.

A central message of the rally was the importance of obedience, particularly to parents. This emphasis stemmed from the fifth commandment (Exodus 20:12), which promises blessings for those who honor their parents. Rev. Ako Arrey Kelvin, the Parish Pastor of PCC Besongabang, underscored this principle in his sermon, urging the children to listen to and follow the guidance of their parents and teachers. He highlighted the crucial role of obedience in their lives, connecting it directly to receiving God’s favor.

The rally showcased the children’s talents and knowledge through a series of competitions. These included Bible quizzes, testing their familiarity with scripture; Brain Trust, challenging their critical thinking and problem-solving skills; choral singing, allowing them to express their faith through music; and evangelical dancing, providing a joyful and energetic outlet for their spiritual expression. These activities not only provided entertainment but also reinforced their learning and fostered a sense of community among the different Sunday School groups.

Rev. Ako Arrey Kelvin also addressed the teachers, encouraging them in their vital role of imparting knowledge and guiding the children in the ways of the Lord. He emphasized the importance of their dedication and commitment to nurturing the spiritual growth of the children under their care.

The children’s participation and efforts were recognized with participatory prizes, presented by the Presbyterial Secretary of Mamfe Presbytery, Rev. Mrs. Geraldine Fobang, who attended the rally. Her presence further emphasized the importance of the event and the value placed on the children’s spiritual development within the Presbytery.

In addition to the competitions and spiritual messages, the rally also included a fundraising initiative to support the ongoing programs and activities of the Sunday School. This demonstrated a commitment to providing resources for the continued growth and development of the children’s ministry within the Mamfe Presbytery. The annual rally served as a valuable platform for the children to gather, share experiences, deepen their faith, and build fellowship in a joyful and supportive environment.
